AMD unveiled Ryzen 5900X becomes the “World’s Best Gaming CPU”

AMD recently announced its new lineup of desktop processors called the Ryzen 5000. The new batch of CPUs, based on AMD’s next-gen architecture, is set to release on November 5.

The Ryzen 5000 series will feature the latest Zen 3 architecture, which is a whole new upgrade from Ryzen 4000’s Zen 2. In theory, the performance increase is so drastic that AMD has hailed the Ryzen 5900X, a high-end CPU in the 5000 family, as “the world’s best gaming CPU.”

AMD Ryzen 5000 Series Brings More Power Than Its Predecessor

Diving into finer details, the new 5000 family continues with Ryzen 3000‘s 7nm process from last year. However, it provides better overclocking speeds and a higher rate of instructions per cycle than the 3000 series. Moreover, AMD has also designed the chip layout from scratch for the Ryzen 5000 chips.

The lineup’s most powerful CPU is Ryzen 5950X, operating at 16 cores and 32 threads. It offers a base frequency of 3.4 GHz and a max frequency of 4.9 GHz. On the other hand, the entry-level Ryzen 5 5600X runs on 6 cores and 12 threads, while offering a base frequency of 3.7 GHz (overclockable up to 4.6 GHz).

The PC gaming giant has revealed information about four different variants in the new lineup. The entry point of the 5000 series is Ryzen 5 5600X at $299, whereas the most expensive offering is Ryzen 9 5950X at $799. Other options include Ryzen 7 5800X and Ryzen 9 5900X priced at $449 and $549 respectively.

AMD has also confirmed that the new processor chips are compatible with the older motherboards running Ryzen 4000 CPUs. Switching to the new Ryzen series will offer those rigs about a 26% performance boost on average. However, the number of cores and thermal design point will remain the same.

Apart from CPUs, AMD will also soon release its next-gen assembly of Radeon RX 6000 “Big Navi” GPUs, which will directly compete with rival Nvidia’s RTX 3000 series. More information on the GPU lineup will come out on October 28.
