Ford announced year its plans to go all electric for passenger cars by the end of 2030. By the same time two-thirds of commercial vehicles are also supposed to be PHEV and EV. Mustang Mach E and Puma are proudly holding the torch for the passenger Fords, Ford E-Transit is doing all the heavy lifting on the commercial side of things.
Soon the good old Transit won’t stand alone – Ford just announced an event for 09.05.22, which will see the Tourneo join the EV gang. Unlike passenger cars where plenty of details are available prior to the launch, in this case we know very little. We know it will be an adapted platform as opposed to a dedicated EV one, most likely sharing many components with the E-Transit.
This new Tourneo Custom will join E-Transit and will be followed by Transit Custom next year, with Transit Courier and Tourneo Courier following in 2024. Ford not only plans to electrify its entire range of vehicles but also aims to become a carbon neutral manufacturer by 2035.
