We couldn’t help but noticed that Google(company that specializes in Internet-related services and products, which include online advertising technologies, search engine, cloud computing, software, and hardware) has deleted one of their app “Androidify” from the Play Store due to a decline in its usage and app’s visibility.
Androidify was released back in 2011, and it was updated until 2016, followed by a few tweaks until last year. The app lets you create a custom Android avatar of yourself and others. Androidify came via the platform of the Android operating system. Androidify app enabled users to create Android avatars, similar to how users create their avatars on Bitmoji and Memojis on iPhones. Since Androidify was limited to playing with the Android logo, therefore, it didn’t require the facial features of users.
With the app, users could personalize the body features, including their face, hair, height, and more. The exciting part was the full range of clothing to choose from.
After creating an avatar, the Google app offered users to save the image and share it on social media platforms.
Androidify was present in the time when users were still getting familiar with the Android experience, and creating Android avatars was an extraordinary feat.
Androidify starts by letting you choose a skin tone for your droid or stick to the default bright green. In addition to adjusting length and width, body features include hair types and color.
There’s then a whole range of clothing, pants, shoes, hats, scarves, and miscellaneous items to hold like cameras or phones — specifically a Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. Google touts a quintillion (1,490,248,844,407,008,000) clothing and accessory combinations.
According to Google, the decision to remove Androidify comes from declining app usage and age. The website will follow shortly, but can still be accessed at androidify.com
