Samsung expects to ship around 2.5 million Galaxy Z Flip foldable display phones this year, according to inside sources cited by Korean media. The maker will reportedly have 500,000 units ready initially with the option to assemble some 2 million more down the road if the demand is there.

The estimate is much higher than what the Galaxy Fold moved in 2019 – between 400,000 and 500,000.

In addition to the higher awareness about the novel form factor the price should also greatly contribute to th Galaxy Z Flip higher sales – it is rumored to cost 1.5M KRW (€1,155/$1,260), much lower than the Galaxy Fold’s 2.3M KRW (€1,770/$1,940).

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip will be announced alongside the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+ and Galaxy S20 Ultra at tomorrow’s Unpacked event, and it’s coming with 6.7inch Dynamic AMOLED Displya, 12MP Main Camera,10MP Front Camera and 256GB Storage. One UI 2.1, 3300mAH or 3500mAH Battery
