Xiaomi showcases the upcoming Mi 10 smartphone camera in new videos

The latest leak reveals of the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 10 (and the Mi 10 Pro) and their 108MP camera.

Ther are two pairs of images, one showing what looks to be either a full resolution 108MP or pixel-binned 27MP shot and the other a cropped-in section of the same shot. The images aim to showcase the impressive detail-retention of the huge 1/1.33-inch sensor.

The Xiaomi Mi 10 will support the HEIF/HEIC (High Efficiency Image File Format) to save space, not unlike the Apple iPhone and other devices. HEIF promises up to 50% smaller image files, which would come handy in a device meant to output 27MP photos.

Here are videos of the Xiaomi Mi 10. The first is the short film Across the Pond London by Frederic Van Strydonck. It’s a mix of video captured with the Mi 10 and video showing the Mi 10 in action. You can see the impressive depth of field the Mi 10 can achieve in the close-up shots of birds.

The other video is a short clip that promotes the Xiaomi Mi 10’s camera speed, showing the very short shot to shot time even in 108MP mode.

Non-camera-related note, here are a couple of images of the Xiaomi Mi 10’s retail box. Outside of the design of the box, the key take away is that the phone will offer High-Res Audio

The Xiaomi Mi 10 will be unveiled on February 13 in China and go live on the global stage on February 23.
